2013 Thank The Troops Pogy Bait Drive

I forgot to mention it at the BBQ Match...

I will be collecting items again this year to ship overseas to deployed troops. This year the unit will be 1st Platoon, 1113th Transport Company, CAARNG based out of Kandahar AB, Afghanistan in which my brother is a squad leader.

I will be collecting items at all the ICORE & IDPA matches until 17 November and will be shipping on Friday, 29 November. The Rimfire folk can leave items in the container and I can pick 'em up at one of the other matches. The Board has been kind enough to help with shipping.

Some suggested items are:

Toiletries (they do have 5 females in the unit), Boresnakes (.22 & .30cal), chamber mops, Dewey rods, anything that helps clean M4 chambers, Photon or any type of squeeze lights (any color, RED is best), shaving brushes to clean weapons, DVDs, phone cards, tobacco - snuff, cigars, pipe, Bengay/sportscream, Tylenol, Mach3 razors, ANY kind of hard candy... Atomic fireballs are the bomb, Gummi bears, Mio or Gatorade packets, Starbucks VIA (the AF will not let them have coffee machines so ground/whole bean is out), sun block, baby wipes, eye drops, foot powder, chewing gum, cookies, crackers, jerky (beef or turkey, NO PORK PRODUCTS!), chocolate will melt.

The above list is not inclusive... feel free to add whatever you feel they might like. Imagine yourself in country that doesn't have a lot of the goodies we take for granted. Just no books or magazines... they take up too much space. Bagged items versus boxed are also easier to pack into the 12 x 12 x 5-1/2 Priority Mail boxes that I will be using.

For those that don't know, the bro has shot at the club a couple times and is the reason we have a pole to fly the Colors from at the matches. He donated the parts and did the installation.

Thanks!

Charlie, I  hope you got

Charlie,

I  hope you got enough troop donations to make it a nice surprise for the 1113th Transport Company. Only yesterday, it was Veteran's Day.

Thank you for taking lead on the collection of donations and mailing it all to Afghanistan! Our service men and women deserve all the support we can offer them, now and after they return.

I would like to thank

I would like to thank everyone who contributed items to be shipped, some of you went way beyond. Thirteen boxes weighing a total of approximately 111.5-lbs went Priority Mail this morning.

My thanks also to the Board for the financial assistance with shipping costs.

I am quite sure the 1113th Transport will put everything to good use.

The 1113th Transport company

The 1113th Transport company was able to get back to KAB for Christmas and the Bro asked to pass along their thanks for all the stuff we sent over.

Image #1 - Some 1113th NCOs enjoying a good smoke courtesy of Charlie & Mike. (Looks like the Bro has Arturo Fuente God Of Fire, flanked with two RP Vintage '92s and can't make out the one on the far right)

Image #2 - Wendy might appreciate this'un... her hat made it to Afghanistanwink

Hope y'all had a great Christmas, wish y'all a Happy New Year and see y'all in a couple weeks. I have two stages submitted and approved so far, one challenging & one "interesting".

Check six.
