Covert carry vs Concealed carry

What are your thoughts?
Concealed carry just hides your defensive weapon.
Covert carry hides the fact that you would have anything to do with guns, i.e. not wearing clothing advertising guns or shooting. Not giving any bad guy a heads up that you have a weapon.

I think they are really one

I think they are really one and the same. If you are carrying concealed, you sure don't want anyone to know. So isn't that what you are talking about?

I was reading a discussion

I was reading a discussion regarding this on another website and thought it very interesting.
Let's say you see a guy wearing khaiki shorts, flip flops, and an oversized Hawaiian shirt.
Then you see a second guy wearing a 5.11 ball cap, a Smith & Wesson baggy t-shirt & black tactical boots.
Both guys are carrying well concealed pistols. But which one is covert?

If a guy with a gun walked into a McDonalds where both of these guys were having lunch with their families, which one of these guys might be the first target because his clothing choice screamed that "I possibly have a hidden gun".

Instead of just concealing a pistol, it was discussed that it might be a good idea to do it covertly, blending in, looking and dressing like everyone else. This would give a person a defensive edge and the element of surprise.

Hope you guys don't mind me trying to start topics on the Forums, they seemed a little quiet.

First off, as to starting

First off, as to starting topics, I say do it. It is a bit slow and starting topics is a way to liven it up a bit. As you see, I'm going to respond and start a few myself.

On to the topic at hand. I see now what you are talking about and fully agree. I much prefer the "covert" type of carry myself. However, that said, sometimes a cover garment will be necessary and it may look like a cover garment to anyone thinking that way. I have tried to remedy that by picking up a LCP that I can easily carry in the hip pocket even with Bermuda shorts. By the way, If I were really to wear Bermuda shorts, it would just scare folks away, so I try not to do that. Ha Ha
