The Inaugural Event

Well, the first ever match is over. It was great. We had about 20 people, and many of them were new shooters to the club. Some were youngsters and we even had a few new women. Over all it was a huge success. Did it run smoothly? Well, not as well as it could have run, but who would have thought we would have that many people. In hind sight, we should have formed two squads, but it was a great day anyway. Everyone got a chance to shoot what they brung! We had some folks that had some mag malfunctions, others with rifle malfunctions. Some didn't have enough mags. Others borrowed guns. But what the heck, we all got to shoot and have a great time. Folks got to see a lot of different equipment and sighting systems. I'm sure some folks will be heading out this next month and spending some money. Overall, the first ever match was a huge success and a huge thanks has to go to Ty and Wendy for all their hard work and the others that pitched in and helped them put together such a successful event.

I, for one, sure do hope this is a match that continues. It's a blast and totally different than the ICORE or IDPA matches we have. It allows others to experience the joy of shooting and is very inexpensive. Varying the day from Sunday to Saturday and back and forth seems to be a good idea in my opinion too. Again, thanks to all for a wonderful day!

Like Lynn said, it was a fun

Like Lynn said, it was a fun day!  The next one will be even better!

But here's what it's all about, bringing junior shooters into our sport. Haley's Dad brought her out for first competition of any kind. Here's a video of me giving her a little coaching while she shoots my rifle for the first time. She shot the first stage with her rifle, complete with pink hogue stock. Way to go Haley!!!

I was planning to go, but we

I was planning to go, but we had a little birthday party for the wife.  Having no idea how long it would take today, I had to skip it.  I even went ahead and got me a 10-22, haven't even shot it yet.  Thanks, Ty and Wendy for getting this going.  Mark Hicks

Haley was just doing great

Haley was just doing great today. She really enjoyed herself and I think she is going to continue shooting for some time to come. It's going to start in this rimfire shooting, but I think she will move up as she gets older.

And Mark, you missed a great time. For a good reason, however, but a good time was missed nevertheless. And we missed you to buddy.

Ty, thanks for working so hard after all day at the range and getting the results up so fast. I sure did enjoy wandering about through them. I meant to thank you last night but just got so engrossed in reading them I plain forgot.

I want to say thanks to Brian

I want to say thanks to Brian and Wendy. They both stood out in the sun like US soldiers guarding the tomb of the unknown soldier, while we huddled in the shade. Thanks Guys! And like Brian said, This one was fun, the next one will be better, I guarantee it.

Wow, what a great day! Any

Wow, what a great day! Any day a dad can be out shooting with his daughter is an awesome day. But this match really made it special.

My daughter Haley has been excited for over a month about this competition, which is the first of any kind she has shot. I have been able to shoot a few IDPA matches here, but this was my first rimfire shoot. Which I guess was obvious be the color of the pink rifle I was shooting. That gun really did look a lot better in Haley's hands than mine.

Having shot a few IDPA matches here at NVSA, I was not surprised by how nice everyone was again. But I wanted to say how awesome it was for me to see everyone go out of their way to make Haley comfortable at the match. Brian, Ty and Wendy you guys were amazing for how you ran the event and how you guys made it an awesome day for Haley. Brian another big thanks for helping Haley and letting her shoot your rifle, even though that is going to cost me some money.

Look forward to upcoming matches!

Ty, that was a great compiled video of the Rimfire match we had last Sunday that you posted on the home page. I really enjoyed seeing it. It really gave a nice idea of what we were doing and the equipment we used. Great stuff!
