IRC squad assignments available

I just noticed that the squad assignments are up for the IRC match.  Most of us are on 6B.  Ernst and  Steve are on other squads but they say they will still try to honor requests if you get them in right away.  We will shoot on the afternoon rotation on Thursday and Saturday, morning rotation on Friday.  Can't wait.  See you there.  Mark Hicks

Hey Lynn, There is still

Hey Lynn,

There is still time to get in!

www.icore.org

Contact them and sign up!  There is room on our squad!  Rooms are cheap at Motel 6 in Morro Bay.  Mark and I stayed there for the Southwest Regional and is was good.  Unlike the one in Pinole last weekend!  But we won't go into that!

Really Lynn, you should do it.  It is a great match, one of the best I've ever been too!

Sign-up and Go, you won't regret it!

Brian

Man, I'd love to, but can't

Man, I'd love to, but can't get away that weekend. My wife is going to be out of town and I'll be up at my cabin near Burney. Like I say, maybe next year.

My lovely wife has encouraged

My lovely wife has encouraged me to find a way to go to this years IRC. After several conversations with various members that were going I with the help of others have figured out a way to go. I have spent the day getting stuff ready. tomorrow I will load ammo and gear.  It looks like I will get to be on NVSA's squad. It should be a ton of fun.

I have spent today making moon holders for myself and Wendy. I hope they work.

They look good Ty. Good luck

They look good Ty. Good luck with them. I"m sure envious. I'd love to go too, but I'll be out of town and just can't make it. Keep us posted on what is going on at the shoot, as you did so wonderfully for the IDPA shoot. We can all live vicariously though your posts.

Its just going to be me

Its just going to be me (without Wendy). Wendy has to run the shop while I go play. I got my travel and lodging figured out. Bart Hightower met me today and gave me some 38 brass. So between what I got from Lynn and what I got today. I should have enough to get loaded for the IRC. Now how stupid is it to bring a load that you have never shot (and will not have time to chrono), to a major match. I plan on loading 3.7gn. tightgroup behind a 158 RN. I hope it makes power. I wont have a backup plan. I have discovered that Winchester brass wont fit in the moons I got. So out of the 800 rounds of brass I got Im trying for 500 rounds that are not Winchester brass. Wish me the best. surprise

Is anyone else shooting any

Is anyone else shooting any of the classifier stages on Wednesday?  I plan on going out and shooting a few to loosen up a bit.  What time do you plan on being there if you're going?  Can't wait.  Mark Hicks

Ty, I still owe you a couple

Ty, I still owe you a couple hundred brass. I can be sure they are not Winchester. What kind seems to fit the best? I'll try and make them that. How about the ones you already got. How many are winchester, I'll try and get enough to trade those with you also. Is it alright if some are not nichol, but regular brass?

Federal and Remington fit the

Federal and Remington fit the moons I have. Lynn, I got about 50-50 Winchester and federal from you. I would be happy to trade with you. Still putting a brass plan together for next week. I only have about 400 rounds right now that fit the moons I got. This is my fault. Last minute !!! Ill figure something out.  At this point im going to use some factory ammo as a backup.

I met up with Ty today at the

I met up with Ty today at the Lincoln shooting range. I was there to give him some brass and he was there to chrono his loads. He was having a bit of a problem with some of the loaded moons fitting into the cylinder. He said he was going to be spending the rest of the day loading the moons and checking to be sure they fit in the cylinder. Ty, be sure and let us know how it worked out for you.

Thank you Lynn, for helping

Thank you Lynn, for helping Ty out.  Are you using 38 special cases? I can bring some extra ammo, just in case.  I'm sure you'd rather use your own, but if you need it.  Mark Hicks

Ty, you and I were talking

Ty, you and I were talking that you had to use the same ammo. I just looked over the rules and can't find where it says that, even though I seem to remember reading it. Seems logical that you must shoot all the same ammo, especially if they are running a chrono on some of it. But maybe not.

I thought that sounded hinky.

I thought that sounded hinky. I know if you have a backup gun that uses different ammo than you primary gun you have to submit that ammo at chrono as well. Like IDPA I believe you can mix factory and reloads as long as all ammo meet the power floor. In ICORE I dont know what happens if you fail Chrono. I imagine DQ. One of the Marks or Brian may be along to clarify my thoughts. ICORE is still greek to me.

Lynn here are my chrono

Lynn here are my chrono results.

Powder Charge

Tightgroup Powder

Missouri LRN Average of 8 shots Power Factor
3.6 158 775 122,518
3.8 158 796 125,788
4.0 158 823 129,975

I figured out my moon clip issue. I have 40 moons that are measure .023 thick with with 8 holes that measure .362 openings and I have 25 that measure .024 have a .357 opening. The 25 with the smaller cut would accept Remington and Federal brass but was so tight that the moon was warping causing the rounds to bind. The moons that were going in fine were the ones that had the larger openings.  I have no idea what the 25 odd ones go to . I have tried every brand on brass I have on the small opening ones. Starline is the only one I dont have to try out.

I will give you a report after the match. Until then, thank you for help on the brass.
