It is about time. Striker fired guns in SSP

A Message to All IDPA Members from Executive Director Joyce Wilson

To: All IDPA Members

From: Joyce Wilson, IDPA Executive Director

Date: 3/28/12

... Re: IDPA Interim Rule

Rules Committee has announced a single change that I would like to share with our members.

This is our first major change to SSP since 1999.

Effective March 31st, 2012, Striker fired pistols will be allowed in Stock Service Pistol. SSP will

remain a double action class and will now include striker fired guns that otherwise qualify for

SSP regardless of either an ATF or manufacturer classification. All other rules will remain in

effect for SSP.

There is a significant amount of debate between the Glock, XD, and M&P as to what defines

each action. While each is unique they all employ similar mechanics, which are translated into

similar trigger actions.

IDPA appreciates your help in implementing this rule change. This change will appear in a

revised rulebook expected to be printed September 2012.

INteresting. For those of us

INteresting. For those of us shooting one of the mentioned pistols. what does this mean for us? Do have to re-qualify or will our qualifying score just be transfered to SSP? Will we be required to change?

Thank God!  They finally

Thank God!  They finally righted the great wrong.

I bought new IDPA legal mag pouches and a nice holster so I can finally shoot my XD in SSP.  Wow.  I'm excited about this.  It just proves that Headquarters really does listen to the rank and file!  No more Glock domination of SSP.

... and you heard it first on the NVSA website too.

Nice job Ty!

At last

At last weekends IDPA Regional in Richmond I was having a conversation with a top level shooter. He informed me that the New XDm was now legal in SSP. I informed him that is was not. He told me to check the IDPA website! I told him I really think he is incorrect in his statement and that I don't need to check the IDPA website. I informed him at that time that I felt there was a good chance you are quoting this post which was an April Fools joke. Its post time was April 1 at exactly midnight. I attempted to make it look like an authentic official IDPA memo.

I thought it was rather obvious that this would be false. I thought it would be a funny and I figured no one would take it seriously being that this is not found anywhere on the IDPA website.

I want to apologize if anyone else saw this and did not realize it was a joke.

IDPA will no longer be called IDPA when Glocks and Springfield XD's both compete together in SSP.

I was really floored when

I was really floored when this top level shooter wanted to argue with me. He told me I don't know what I was talking about. He said "just go look at the Idpa website". It made me think for the first time. Oh crap I hope no one else thought it was real. We shall see I guess

oopps! again, I just heard

oopps! again,

I just heard that a call made it to IDPA HQ for verify the validity of this post. They didn't find it too funny. I guess more people than we all think read and look at this website. It was a joke intended for our local members that went Nationwide. I just hope no one ever received a DQ at a match for an April Fools Joke. blush
