It's a bit confusing for me

I referring to the way there are posts on the forum that don't show up on the main NVSA page. I go there to see what is happening and figure that nothing has been posted. Then I go to the forum and find posts. Confusing, as I thought it was all one and the same. Obviously, I was totally wrong. Still a great site.

Here is how it is laid

Here is how it is laid out.

NVSA's Front page contains Posts that are "Current Events". Members cannot add current events, they can of course comment on the Current Event posts that are seen on the front page. These posts disappear (move down) as new current events get posted to the front page. Except for posts marked by "sticky" they remain there until the sticky is removed.

The Forum is a separate area all together. The only thing that connects the forum to the front page is depending on you access level. (board members) may post something in the Forums and then if the choose to Publish the same content to the "front page"  This would be the types of content like an IDPA rule change. Not everyone reads the forums yet the rule change needs to archived so that someone 6 months from now can see it without going through all the old "front page" posts. If the information is worthy enough to inform everyone NOW they (boardmembers) can send out your post as a Mass Email to everyone or they can change its published status to add "Publish to front".  By "publishing it to the front", comments can be added either on the front page or in the forums. It really isnt duplicate posting it is just visible from 2 areas.

The best way to track active posts are to watch the Recent Comments in the left pane from the front page. The second thing to watch is Active Topics Below that.

If someone posts a new topic that hasn't received any comments it will only show up in the Active Forums block on the left bottom of the front page.

Keep asking your questions others will learn form these types of posts

Also, I have Notifications

Also, I have Notifications set up. I just turned it on for all members. You can subscribe to a post, if you want to. Tell me if you think it should stay.
