Hey Charlie, you still doing this on Saturday? Or are there more folks that wanted it on Sunday? Just checking so I don't miss it.
I'll get the answer to my e-mail question to you here when it pops up!
Lynn, I had the same question and had e-mailed Ty.
Last word I had from Charlie was we were going to go for it on Saturday, which is fine by me. But he had asked who wanted to do it on Sat and who on Sun at the last match. I can't see any reason doing it two different days. But what ever works for Charlie works for me.
Saturday. Be at main gate by 0830. $15 exact or check to NVSA. It is full. Six shooters. Should be done by noon easy.
The ability to shoot straight is that part of national security which affects the individual more than any other. - Merritt "Red Mike" Edson; CMOH-USMC
Charlie. I had mentioned at one point that I might want to shoot the classifier. Just wanted to clarify that I won't be there in case you had counted me. Mark Hicks
I'll be there.
What a great day. There were only six of us shooting and Charlie. Unfortunately, Charlie was the only SO there so he was not able to shoot. Come on October! We sure did have a great day. Personally, I was disappointed in the way I shot, but heck, I had a ball nevertheless. Anytime you can go out and shoot 90 rounds downrange with a bunch of other folks, it's gotta be considered a great day!
I'll take the blame for your disappointment as it became obvious I'm in need of a Safety Officer Refresher...
APPENDIX VIII; SECTION D - RE-SHOOTS: If the Classifier is not part of a match, limited re-shoots are permitted in the case of equipment and/or mental malfunction.
I should have had you re-shoot Stage 1.
Hey, not a problem at all Charlie. It wouldn't have changed my over all score, and besides, when you make a huge screw up it brings home the things you gotta pay attention to. I remember a guy that didn't watch his muzzle like he should have. Seems to have really helped him there. This will help me to concentrate better so all is good.
While I wasn't happy with the way I shot, it was better than the last time so that means I'm improving. That's all I can ask for. It also showed me some areas where I really need to practice. I'm gonna try and do better because I'm gonna try and practice those weak areas identified.
Again, thanks for stepping up and doing the classifier, I know how much it was appreciated by all that were there. You are the man!
IDPA classifiers are intended to be an accurate representation of your shooting ability, not the ability of your brain or your gun. Re-shoots for mental or gun malfunctions are to be encouraged.
If you are shooting a classifier as a Club Match then, it is what it is. Just like any Match...... No reshoot. This is mostly due to the fact of 30-60 people shooting we would never finish. Glad you all had a great time, We helped my parents demo ceramic tile out of their new house Yesterday. Wendy and I are quite sore today.
"If you plan to leave early, please arrive early to help set up. If you arrive late, please stay late to help take down. If you plan to arrive late and leave early, please do your shooting someplace else."
Those of you that attended. Joe Kirkland was nice enough to take videos and upload them for you guys. There are located here, And A big thanks to Charlie for taking time out and doing that for our members. Thanks.
Joe, Thank you for shooting the video. This is the first time I have seen myself shoot. It was a great time.
Charlie, Thank you agian for taking the time to run it.
Joe the video are great, till I watched myself!
Are there any plans are doing another Classifier soon?
I have joined both NVSA and IDPA.
My son-in-law and I shot our first IDPA with you guys in July, and we just completed the SDPS Intro to IDPA course this last Saturday.
We are both interested in being classified before our next match.
Gonna brag on him a little, he shot best overall with a XD9 sub-compact 3" barrel....
I am not aware af any NVSA classifier planned before the next IDPA match. I would suggest you attend the SDPS Classifier on September 3rd in Ione.
From there website:
SDPS will be having a classifier match on the Saturday before each monthly match in Bay 8 at The Sacramento Valley Shooting Center Action Pistol Range. This match is limited to twenty shooters and will be divided into two squads of ten each. The first squad will begin shooting at 9:00AM sharp, and the second squad will start shooting at 12:00 Noon. The fee for this match is $10.00/shooter to cover range fees and materials, and covers one classifier. Additional classifiers may be shot at $5.00/ea, but must be arranged prior to the match so we can alot our time accordingly. Please contact Robert Sharp at email@example.com to reserve a spot.
Note: there will be no classifier matches on April 30th, July 2nd or October 1st.
