NVSA Inagural "Shot in the Dark" Jan 12th.

Scores Here Stages Here

Thanks again for all the members who worked tirelessly to make this possible.

Match Status is Go....The January 12th start times have changed (see details below).

Pre-registration required. This match will be limited to club members in good standing with a Marksman or higher classification, who have not been disqualified from a club match in the last 2 years.  We will limit the match to 26 shooters, so sign up below, Match is Full.  You may add your name to our standby list and I will contact you if there is a cancelation.

We will have stage setup at 3:00, registration starting at 5:00, Shooters meeting at 5:45 and first shots about 6:15. Replace the "Road Closed" sign after you come through the outer gate. Be prepared to park outside the inner gate, depending on range conditions.

It will be very dark out there (no moon) so bring a non weapon mounted flashlight for shooting and a red or orange chemical light stick for loading mags, blowing your nose, etc.  Active hearing protection (working) will be required due to limited visibility. Night sights are not required, but do help.  Clear shooting glasses help as well. Please bring a non-tactical flashlight to use while scoring & taping.  Head lamps are perfect. If you own a night friendly light like a red pilot or navigator light bring it. Tactical torches to be used during the COF only.  All stages require that you wear concealment.

Light etiquette will be strictly enforced. You will be expected to keep your light in your own space. No, who light is brighter contests. It is important to limit your personal light leakage to a minimum. When the shooter steps up to “load and make ready” everyone else will be expected to keep their lights off.

Help with stage setup at 3:00 is greatly appreciated.

We expect freezing temperatures, so dress appropriately.  We are planning a fire in a barrel to warm your hands...

See you on the 12th, weather permitting!

Sounds like it should be fun.

Sounds like it should be fun. Looking forward to it. I hope the weather holds up. IDPA rules? Handheld lights only?

Ya got my entry. Lookin' forward to it. Haven't done night shoot in over 30 years... and that was with some big bores with an occasional parachute flare floatin' overhead. :-)

I can probably help with setup too.

There will be an IDPA match Sunday, weather permitting.

Also, there will be no scorekeeper at the night match. The score sheets will be held over until Sunday;s match and the results for both matches announced Sunday afternoon.

Thank you for the pictures

Ty Hamby's picture

Thank you for the pictures today. Really concerned about the range not evaporating the water without trees or sunlight.

Yer welcome. It's too bad

CSeverance's picture

Yer welcome. It's too bad 'they' didn't think ahead and grade it for drainage to the northwest corner, seeing as how we don't shoot thataway. Looks like the Board has some thinking to do about options, especially as The Farmer's Almanac says this is going to be a very wet winter. Pumping, re-grading, or a sump, come to mind.

Reminding everyone that this

Ty Hamby's picture

Reminding everyone that this match requires WORKING electronic ears. Bring batteries. anyone looking like they cant hear may be asked to not shoot. Hearing range commands while downrange tapeing or brassing is just one more extra safety in low light conditions.

WES OUT TONIGHT - WAITING LIST SPOT OPEN?

I really hate to back out at the last minute, and I really, really want to shoot -- but I'm sick.  I'll also email directly in case it's not too late to add anyone off the waiting list.  Sorry!

Next time we have a ICORE

Next time we have a ICORE match posing as a IDPA match I would like to know first.

Hmmm... I dint see any

CSeverance's picture

Hmmm... I dint see any Tombstone targets. Thought it was a lotta fun, though a wee bit nippy toward the end. I am sure the few bugs will be worked out over the next couple tries.

Had a great time at the night

Had a great time at the night shoot, even with all of my equipment failures. Thanks to all involved with making it happen.

Thanks Shannon..  It was fun

Mark Barr's picture

Thanks Shannon..  It was fun and challenging, wasn't it?  The fires were a HUGE help, thawing out my frozen appendages every once in a while...  Thanks for all your help with setup and the fire stuff...  That was great.

Let's try it again, when things warm up a bit..

Mark

I'd like to thank everyone

Brian Gonsalves's picture

I'd like to thank everyone who made our first (trial, test) night match a big success!  Shannon for the fire pits, Tony and his son for grading the range surface so we could hold the match.  Mark for getting out there early Saturday and setting up, Phil for bringing firewood and the other members who arrived early to set up.

Thanks to the ICORE shooters who put everything left out from the Night match!

The board will be meeting to discuss future night matches.  While on the subject of the board, the VOLUNTEERS that make up the board spend countless hour working to make YOUR club better.  For some of these Board members most of these hours are not at the range!  I think many of you would be surprised if you knew the time that was spent!  Add to that they are the first to arrive and last to leave on match day!

Take time to thank them, or better yet, thank them and step up a help YOUR club!

Cant thank all involved for
