Please tell me what is working or needs repair.

Some of you may hate this new website. Not everyone is up to change. tell me how I can make it better for you.

Wow! I love what you've done with the place.

I love the new upgrades, Ty.  Nice job.

I can tell you have already put many hours into the new site.  THANK YOU for all that you are doing for the club!

How long until we drop the old site?  I can't see any reason to keep it alive, except maybe for an auto-forward to the new site... (for those who are slow to change their bookmarks..).

Nice Job!
Nice job on the new website, Ty. I know it's a lot of work to do this kind of stuff and I appreciate you doing it.

Beautiful Site!!

Hey Ty,

Ditto what everyone else has said - VERY nicely done, and thanks for the time and effort.

I also have a couple of questions/comments/suggestions, for what they are worth:

1.  I like the rotating picture in the banner, but for several of the pics, the words of the title run across faces, or otherwise mar the effect of the photo.  I wonder if you'd consider either moving the text to the bottom of the banner box where it is less likely to get in the way, or editing the pictures and/or size of the banner div itself such that there is some space at the top of the pics for the words to fit.

2. The new photo gallery is nice.  It would be kind of nice if the monthly shoot collections displayed in the right order (e.g., Jan before April, etc.)  Would it work to name them numerically (or add a numeric prefix) to get them to automatically sort in this way?

3. From the photo gallery, there is no obvious way to get back to the main site.  (You can, of course, hack the URL, but that's like cheating...)  I wonder if you intended the gallery to open in a new browser window, or if there is an easy way to include site nav on at least the main photo gallery page (which you CAN navigate back to from within the collections.)

So there are a couple of thoughts about improvement, just in case you don't have enough ideas of your own!!

OK, I just got one more thing - I typed this in with regular old returns for line breaks, etc., but it formatted it as one large paragraph, at least in the preview.  I can't figure out how to break it up so it's more readable.  (I'm on a mac using safari, in case that's helpful.)

Thanks again for your time and effort on this.  It's pretty phenomenal!

Answers to your questions.

I agree. I will be working to gain more pictures that lend themselves well to a 980x200 pixel format at future events. The title "North Valley Shooters Association" is hard coded into this theme. I can only turn it on or off at this time. Edit: Im not a CSS guy but I figured out how to change its location. (after an hour, im doing the happy dance:)) Finding pictured that lend themselves well with the title over the banner will be a project of mine when time allows.

I will work on that. They are currently ordered by creation date.

3. From the photo gallery, there is no obvious way to get back to the main site.

It opens in a new page because I am used to multiple windows open on multilpe monitors. I will change this to suite other users. The IDPA logo is a link back to the home page. It was quick and dirty. I intend to change it to an NVSA logo later.

4. one more thing - I typed this in with regular old returns for line breaks, etc., but it formatted it as one large paragraph, at least in the preview.  I can't figure out how to break it up so it's more readable.  (I'm on a mac using safari, in case that's helpful.)

Under your post you will see Input format. Expand it and click on "full HTML" All posts will default to "filtered HTML" this is a security measure to keep harmful code from damaging the site. Only Members are allowed to post in full html. Default input format will remain filltered.  Thanks for the input keep it coming.

When posting a comment, after

When posting a comment, after typing it up, the buttons at the bottom say save and preview. Save is confusing, as it seems like it is saying to save it somewhere, rather than the common "post" that we see on most forums. I'm use to it now, but it was confusing at first.

Also, when I open the video page, there is no way to go back to the home page. I must back click or go back to my favorites to find it again. The video page needs to open in a separate window. Same for the Gallery, it also needs a separate page. I haven't checked all the other pages, but they may need a home page button also.

I fixed external links "not

I fixed external links "not opening in a new window". Gallery is an internal link so it didn't require the tweaking that an external links need. This site is not run by simple html code. It is ran by a core program called Drupal. Drupal is a CMS (content management software) system that has a core engine that runs the basic web stuff. After installing I quickly put together a list of features I wanted and went in search for modules I could add to the core module. The great part about Drupal is that if it doesn't do what you want there is probably an "app for that". Some feature like the "save" button are hard coded into the core module. Even though I stayed at a holiday inn last night I am by no means a computer programmer. I can edit a little of this, change a little of that, but that is it. After researching your question about the "Save" button I found out it would take a little reconfiguring of the core module. That is not going to happen by this former concrete pumping, wannabe expert shooter. My skills do not go there. So until some super computer geek steps up and offers to help us with the site, that button will remain a save button. This is a dynamic site. Unlike other websites it is a dynamic site. Information is sitting in databases. This post is not actually on any page. It is just code sitting in a database waiting for you to tell it what to do. Drupal then goes and gets the requested information and displays it in a fashion that your browser recognizes as a page.  I must beware though we are currently running about 400 queries per page load. The more cool functions you have the longer it takes for a page to build.

Eventually I will get tutorials up that can help the less than expert keyboard jockey post comments with confidence.  Until then we will just poke along. Thanks for the input. I will continue to try to keep everything user friendly.

Ty, believe me, I'm not

Ty, believe me, I'm not complaining. And I am not a computer geek either, I just spend a lot of time of forums. Like I said, the save is OK once I figured it out. And I will probably have more problems with it than others. :-( As I've said before, nice going on getting this thing up and running. It's a whole lot better than the old site.

I didn't take your comment

I didn't take your comment negatively. I appreciate the input.
