Ruger announces NEW .22LR

Ruger is proud to announce the Ruger SP101 in .22 LR, an eight-shot, double-action revolver chambered in .22 Long Rifle.

The 30-ounce double-action revolver is made of weather resistant stainless steel with a satin finish for longevity and good looks. The walnut grip panels inset in the one-piece rubber grip are checkered and engraved. The revolver features a fully adjustable square-notch rear sight and fiber-optic, square-post front sight. The 4.2-inch barrel features a half shroud covering the ejector rod.

I saw that today and thought

I saw that today and thought that I NEED one. What a great looking little gun. Great to carry when out fishing and such. And I do believe it would be fun to use in the Rimfire Shoot. I should get that and shoot it and my lever at the match. Be a blast.  But damn, they just want too much money for it. More than they want for the same handgun in 38/357.

If I'm not mistaken, and I

If I'm not mistaken, and I admit that DOES occur occasionally, it isn't "new" but is a reintroduction of a discontinued line... sometime in the late 80s, early 90s if recollection serves.

Charlie is correct. From

Charlie is correct.
From Wikipedia:

The Ruger SP-101 was introduced in 1989 as the smaller frame counterpart to the GP-100. Both of these revolvers, together, replaced Sturm, Ruger & Co's long-standing staple in the American firearms market, the Ruger Six series revolvers. While no longer manufactured, a 9mm version was also available until around 1998 and a .22LR version was also available until 2003.

But this is the "NEW" ruger wink

"If you plan to leave early, please arrive early to help set up. If you arrive late, please stay late to help take down. If you plan to arrive late and leave early, please do your shooting someplace else."

They are similar but as Ty

They are similar but as Ty posted the New 22lr SP101 is an 8 shot whereas the "old" 22lr sp101 is a 6 shot.  I have one of the older ones it is fun to shoot but a little hard to extract the shells from.
