September 25 match

Just wanted to remind everyone that we got the second ever Rimfire match coming up this Sunday. Bring your 22lr pistol, of any kind, your 22lr rifle of any kind, and come on out and have some fun. If you only have a pistol and no rifle, or a rifle and no pistol, no problem, there is definitely going to be someone there that will lend you what you need. Just bring about 250-300 rounds of ammunition and you should be good to go. And try to bring 5 magazines for each of your guns if you have them. Will help speed up the match. If you don't have that many, come on out anyway and we will make do. It's a BLAST folks and the kids and women who have never shot before will also love it.

Me too. Took my 10/22's to the range today and one is shooting great. The other one is stovepipeing so I'm going to send them bolt in to CPC and get it worked over. Hopefully, that will take care of the problems. But dang, I'm sure looking forward to Sunday.

Well, how did the trip to the Lincoln range work out? Did the gun shoot like you wanted it to? Did you get your new 22/45? Is that what you were sighting in? I was going to drive over and visit a bit but got tied up here in town and couldn't make it.

I too am really looking

I too am really looking forward to our 2nd Rimfire Match!  Thanks again Ty for bringing this exciting shooting format to NVSA!!!

Lynn, I was having problems with stove-piping too.  I sent my bolt to Randy at CPC, had him work his magic including his Extractor.  Excellent work, quick turn-around and fair price.  Most importantly it solved the problem.  Here's a link to his website:   http://www.ct-precision.com/ruger10-22.html

I've also been doing a little work on my guns.  Fiber Optic front sights on my Limited Pistol and Rifle, and a I put my Open Rifle on a major Diet!

Hope to see many of you Sunday!

Brian, that's where I was

Brian, that's where I was planning sending my bolt. I've had him do one for me, this is a new to me gun. It shoots accurately enough, but stove pipes about every 6 or 7 rounds. Unacceptable. The bolt is going in the mail today. On my limited rifle I've got some tactical sights, much like on an AR. I don't know if I'm going to like them or not, but we'll see this weekend. Looking forward to all the fun and all the great folks.

I ran 60 rounds through the

I ran 60 rounds through the my new 10/22 that Wendy picked up yesterday. I also ran 100+ rounds through my 22/45 hunter I picked up a couple of weeks ago.

The Carbine is bone stock. It took a minute to figure out the stock sighting system on it. I was probably set for 100 yards. Everything was high. I lowered the rear sight on it and brought the POI down. I may even remove the adjustment blade altogether. It will hit a plate anywhere in the window.

The 22/45 received its first 100 rounds today. I replaced the stock v-notch rear blade for a square notch. I use a square notch for everything else and for $2 from Ruger I thought what the heck.

I also installed full Volquartsen  parts. firing pin, extractor, trigger, Ti disconnector, sear, magazine release. I have also installed a Sams bushing so I could ditch the magazine disconnector crap, and I replaced the plastic LCI (loaded chamber indicator) with a SS filler piece. It looks good.

None of the guns sights are dead on accurate. I only had enough time to get everything close. I will dial them in more later once I remember to bring a rest out there and a spotting scope.  I do know that both the new guns didn't have a single hiccup during their shake down cruise today.

Really looking forward to the

Really looking forward to the match on Sunday. Haley and I will both be there ready to have a blast. Going shooting on Saturday to get a little practice in, and make sure everything is sighted in.

I picked up another 10/22 so I don't have to shoot Haley's pink one this time. Polished the trigger up, and installed a Volquartsen hammer. No rounds fired yet, so hope all goes well tomorrow.

Well I might still be, the new 10/22 did not display exceptional reliability today. We will see how it goes tomorrow.

I finally got to the range

I finally got to the range today and shot my new 10-22.  Didn't have one function problem.  Got it sighted in pretty close.  It was shooting several inches to the left.  Forgot my mags for the 22-45 but I've got hundreds of rounds through it already.  Shot the 586 I got from Brian for the first time today.  I had trigger work, fiber optic sight and a new rear sight that was opened up a bit.   Shot real nice.  See you there.  Mark Hicks
