ICORE Update: RESULTS here

Overall Champion: Nathan Carmichael
Open winner: Nathan Carmichael
Limited winner: Molly Smith
Classic winner: Mike Kern
High Lady: Molly Smith
High Senior: Mike Kern
High Super Senior: Don Barr

Things are shaping up for our Sept. ICORE match this Sunday, the 9th.  We still have the construction going on and will be running things the same at the front gate.  Those setting up stages or helping need to be there between 7:00 and 7:15.  The gate will be open again at 8:15 to 8:50 for everyone else.  Each person as he arrives will watch the gate until the next person shows up, rotating people until time to shut the gate.

Mark Barr has a stage lined up for us on stage 1.  Yes, a Mark Barr stage..  It sounds like fun.  Gene and Alexis will be setting up the classifier on 2.  I have the stage on 3 and Charlie has a steel stage for us on 4.  As always any help setting up will be appreciated.  We have our annual barbeque match next weekend followed by the Midwest Regional ICORE match the following weekend in Fallon,NV.   If you haven't already, please sign up for the barbeque

match.

See you there, Sunday.  Mark H.

It was pretty cool having

It was pretty cool having Molly Smith from Team S&W show up and shoot at our small club. 'Course, since she shot on the Super Squad, I dint havta worry bout embarassing my self.

I did get to watch Molly

I did get to watch Molly shoot.  She was smooth and relaxed and shot amazingly well in Limited Division.  She was particularly fast and accurate shooting steel on Stage 4.

She and her folks thanked us all profusely before heading out for their 7 hour drive back to Los Osos, near Moro Bay.

An amazing young lady!  Smith and Wesson is lucky to have her.

eh she was alright.... lol

eh she was alright.... lol Just kidding. She was great. So was Mickey and Nathan. Going to enjoy hanging out with those guys in Fallon in a couple of weeks. It was great getting to spend time with everyone. I always enjoy watching folks from other clubs because I can learn from them all. How stages are broken down and how to attack different problems. I am quickly learning that the act of shooting the gun is less than half the problem. The mental part of preparation, focus, awareness, memory are just as necessary or sometimes more important.to master than trigger pull, site acquisition, and grip.

Focus, focus, focus!  Ty's

Focus, focus, focus!  Ty's assessment is quite right...  absolutely.

When I watch Javier L., Brian G. and Wayne J., it is clear that they all have amazing focus.  Sure, they've put in the trigger time to smooth out the draw, reloads, use of cover, etc, but the thing that consistently leads them to the top of their divisions is the mental side of the game.

They all know how to look at a stage and recognize alternative solutions to "the problem".  They weigh the opportunities for speed against the risk of mistakes, misses, etc.  They all make very few mistakes...

Oh, and they're all SCARY FAST too!

It's something that the rest of us strive for...  Amazing!
