Troop Benefit Collection

Once again this year I will be collecting items to be sent over to the Southwest Asia Theater of Operations. I will be sending the packages to two cousins serving with two different Army units, one in Kuwait and one in Afghanistan. I will start accepting items starting with the October ICORE match and will continue to do so until the November IDPA match on November 18. Since I don't shoot Rimfire, Ty has said that he would collect items for me. I will be shipping the packages on the Friday following Thanksgiving, thus ensuring that they are received prior to Christmas.

Some suggested items are listed below. PLEASE do not send books or magazines as they tend to be too bulky. I use the 12"x12"x5-1/2" USPS Priority Mail boxes. Please keep that in mind if you are planning on buying bulk items.

I believe that last year we sent in the neighborhood of 10 boxes totaling around 70-lbs of items to the soldier in Kuwait, who was in Afghanistan at the time. He has been 'lucky' enough to have been re-deployed after approximately 6 months CONUS-time.

Sooo... the next time you hit Wal-Mart, Sam's or Cost-Co, pick up an extra item or or two and toss it in the range bag. It will all add up.

SOME SUGGESTED ITEMS: Cigars, small / Travel Toiletries / Prepaid Phone Cards / Beef Jerky (Pork products are Prohibited) / New Athletic Socks / Hard Candy (non-melting) / Chewing Gum / Chewing Tobacco / Movie DVDs (Lots of Portable Players There) / Music CDs / Deck of Cards / Twinkies (They never go bad) / Sun Glasses / Clear Shooting Glasses / Sun Block  30 or 50 SPF / Packets of Hand Wipes / Foot Powder / Visine (Lot of Dust There) / Boresnakes .22 and .30 cal / Brownells chamber mops and the shop mops / Dewey Cleaning Rods / Anything that helps clean the M4 chambers / Photon or any other type of squeeze led lights, all colors are good, RED is the best / good socks / OD or brown t-shirts / Shave brushes for cleaning weapons / Snuff… guys never have enough / Antacid tabs / stationary supplies / Ben Gay / sportscream...we get very sore / Fabreeze / Mach 3 Razor Blades

Thank you.

.I would like to thank

.I would like to thank everyone who contributed this year, with special thanks to Mark B. & Dave G. for their large monetary contribution and, once again the Board of Directors for paying the shipping costs.

Seven boxes weighing around 53-lbs to were shipped today to a soldier serving
with CENTCOM FWD ELEMENT. By happenstance, he is the same soldier we shipped last year's contribution to while he was serving in Afghanistan. We shipped items ranging from Gold Bond foot powder to Ramen Noodles, coffee to Wet Ones, popcorn and oatmeal, pogy bait to a week's worth of Appeal-Democrat & Enterprise-Record newspapers.

I am quite sure that he and his buddies will appreciate it all.

Thanks again all.

I received an email from the

I received an email from the aunt of the young troop who was the recipient of our care packages again this year. He wanted her to express his gratitude for all the items and thinking of him and his buddies again this year. He was 'lucky' enough to be deployed to SWA for the holiday season two years in a row.

Once again, my thanks to all who contributed.
