Updates and corrections to the website. July 2012

For several months some of the website features have not worked correctly. I believe I have every broken item fixed.

1) when subscribing to a forum topic or author you would get updates. However the name of the person commenting or updating the thread was incorrectly propagating. This has been corrected.

2) Member and MemberSO Roles can now edit their own comment. Deleting their own comments is still an administrative privilege. Members can edit their own comment to blank if necessary.

3) I updated the topic editor. Doing so deleted some smileys that were in old posts. I will not be restoring old smileys.

4) NVSA will be hosting an "NVSA logo contest". If you are tired of NVSA not having an official logo that represents everything offered at this club then stay tuned to future developments of a contest where you can win something valued somewhere between a swift pat on the back to a free entry at any NVSA event of your choice. This will be determined later when the rest of the board learns about my new brainstorm. Stay tuned.

5) NVSA's website squad signups are suspended due to lack of participation and excessive maintenance required. If you plan on arriving to an NVSA event with a group you will likely get split up on different squads if you fail to notify someone prior to the event. We make every prevision we can to keep friends and family together when possible.

Your patches are great

Your patches are great looking IDPA patches. They are still relevant to the IDPA shooters. NVSA needs a new generic logo. One that represents the club as a whole and does not single out one discipline over another. Rimfire and Icore shooters don't all want a patch that says IDPA with a silhouette of a semi-automatic pistol. Not relevant to a revolver only or 2 gun rimfire group. NVSA has evolved over the last several years from a small single focused group into a multiple discipline firearm association.

This evolution requires a new logo to be used in print, website, and apparel that better represents NVSA without singling any group out. I for one am interested in a generic logo that does not get you prone'd out by rookie'd up city cops. One that is covert and urban-ly tactical to all, but those of us privileged to know the secret handshake.

I will be announcing the requirements and prize to be awarded to the winner sometime next week. It will likely be voted on by the members at the banquet and awards given there.

"If you plan to leave early, please arrive early to help set up. If you arrive late, please stay late to help take down. If you plan to arrive late and leave early, please do your shooting someplace else."
