UPDATE on .22LR ammo availability

At the risk of appearing to be a shill for Federal rimfire ammo, I have to say that I have been encouraged by the consistent availability of Federal AM22 "Auto Match" ammo. For those of you who may not be familiar with this particular variety of .22LR ammo, it's 40 grain LRN standard velocity stuff that's typically packaged in 325 round bricks.

Those of us who shoot rimfire a lot can remember when a 500 round brick of just about any manufacturer's ammo could be had for 19 bucks or less. Those were the days... Today, you're lucky to be able to find 325 round bricks of "brand X" or "no name" ammo for that price.

Over the past 6 months or so, the Federal AM22 325 round bricks have been consistently available for $24.95 to $29.95 per brick. Unfortunately, the suppliers who have it in stock typically impose a 2-5 brick limit on purchases.

FWIW, over that same 6 month period, I've run several thousand rounds of the stuff thru my three rimfire guns (two Browning Buckmarks with Tactical Solutions barrels and  Magnum Research 10-22 rifle clone) with minimal issues. As they say, YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary), but I've had GREAT luck with Federal AM22.

So, to get to the main point of this post, this evening I received an email from Target Sports Ammo in Connecticut indicating that they have AM22 available for $249.50 per case (3250 rounds) with NO LIMIT on the number of cases you can order. Best of all, shipping is included. That's about 7.6 cents per round, delivered to your door.
